Chronicle

2009

The authorisation procedure for the construction of our new plant is on the way. We converted 100 tonnes of wings from wind-power-stations successfully in the first trials.

Zajons logistic company amplified their human resources to prepare for the future tasks and the generation change. Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Lempke is adjusted as another managing director. The distribution expands with Mika Lange and Dipl.-Kfm. Thomas Schulz becomes responsible for the controlling department.

2008

Rudolf Zajons continuous his success concept with the design of a second plant for the alternative fuel production. He decides to invest about 4 Mio. Euros for that project: Wings from wind-power-stations will be converted into alternative fuel in that new plant. With the enlargement of capacity of 50,000 t to 200,000 t ZLE becomes the biggest RDF producing place in Germany.

Construction and initiation of an own analysis laboratory. The continuously examination of the in- and output material assure the high quality of the manufactured RDF.

ZLE educate electrical and electronics installers as well as business trainees.

2007

The successfully acquisition of further energetic waste material from paper factories and the plastic processing industry leads to a higher capacity utilisation for the RDF plant in Melbeck.

Amendment of the regulation for the waste detection.

Changing and simplification of the legal regulation on waste, 01.02.2007: According to EU – law waste is classified only in dangerous and non dangerous waste. The so far effective verification procedure for waste requiring supervision is not to apply.

2006

A new storage for RDF with a capacity of 10,000 t is completed in January.

Further investment plans like the bale storage and the loading by train were put into practice.

Meanwhile 40 employees are working for Zajons logistic.

2005

Amendment of the TA Siedlungsabfall (TASI) by the legislative body.

Our adopt know how in the producing procedure as well as our RDF are great demand and fulfil a major contribution for saving resources. The preparation of waste into alternative fuel is the next generation technology.

Construction and initiation of the new production plant in Melbeck in June 2005. The plant has a BImschG authorised output capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year.

Meanwhile 37 employees are working for our company.

2004

Planning to relocation the plant from Embsen to Melbeck.

2002

Further increases in production can be realising to serve the demand from the cement industry and power plants.

2000

Further investment provides new jobs. The production of alternative fuel increases up to 42,000 tonnes per year. ZLE passes the certification as an “Entsorgungsfachbetrieb (waste managing company)” after § 52 KrW- /AbfG. Further constant verifications assure the high quality standard of our RDF.

1997

In September 1997 the managing partner Rudolf Zajons established in attendance of the Lower Saxony economic minister Dr. Fischer the first preparation plant in Embsen.

What are alternative fuels?

Substitute or short, RDF (refuse derived fuel) is the passion of Rudolf Zajons, founder of the Zajons logistics disposal company in the industrial area south of Lüneburg. At the site in Melbeck the innovative company operates an approved treatment facility for waste from the paper industry and other waste types. At over 60,000 sq meters, 150,000 tonnes RDF are produced per year around the clock. The main plant, the actual processing facility, includes input, output, buffering, and bale storage.

The alternative fuels consist primarily of small pieces of shredded plastic. With a calorific value of about 16,500 kJ / kg, which corresponds roughly to double the power grip of lignite, the substitute fuel is used in power plants. The power plants replace primary energy sources such as coal or oil, because on the one hand they are saving money for the fuel procurement and on the other hand, less CO2 is consumed.

Through the recycling of waste, the Zajons logistics disposal company has a significant, often unrecognized contribution to environmental protection. Zajons brings back the energy consumed and unburdened the environment. With this business idea Zajons causes a rethinking of the paper industry, since its founding in 1997. Meanwhile several large paper mills operate own RDF power plants to handle their waste themselves.

Not only the paper industry has these alternative fuels implanted, but also other energy-intensive industries such as the cement production. Who uses these alternative fuels to a significant degree as well.

In the company are acting currently 40 employees, many of them have been the first few days here. Since last year Zajons has trainees as merchants and electrician. This year an own analysis laboratory was established to control the quality of the input materials as well as the produced fuel. “Quality and reliability is a major role to Zajons logistics. Only in this way it is, according to Rudolf Zajons, possible to survive on an increasing competition.” The success of the company is especially superior to the motivation and dedication of the staff.

Also for the future, Rudolf Zajons has still big plans. His next coup is to set up another plant for processing waste, which actually is not there yet.

The Zajons logistic disposal company plans to build a treatment for wind wings. These are the rotor blades of wind turbines. Through so-called "repowering measures" older wind turbines will be upgrade by replacing the old rotor blades. What happens to the wings? Incineration in an incinerator is not due to the size and landfill is prohibited by law. The solution is to process the wings to substitute fuels. With a planned capacity expansion of 50,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes of waste, Zajons logistic company becomes the largest manufacturing site of RDF in Germany. When the new plant will be in service and by the appropriate utilization it will create up to 12 new jobs, additionally the staff for the special vehicles, to pick up and transport the wings of the wind turbines.

"If the relevant authorities play the game and everything goes well, the new factory will be in service at the end of the year. Then it is time to initiate a generational change, "said the 64-year old Rudolf Zajons, who wishes to retire slowly out of the business. To end this, Rudolf Zajons has already implemented a new management crew to follow up.
